How do I know this is a real offer and not a scam?
Pelagic Birding is a real, independently run directory - see the About page for its history and how it's maintained. Messages sent through the feedback page are read and answered by a real person. If you'd rather verify by phone or in writing first, say so in your message and we'll work it out before any payment happens.
Why is this priced per year instead of per booking?
The site can measure outbound clicks to your own booking page, but it can't currently measure whether those clicks turn into a booking. A flat annual price doesn't require trusting either side to self-report a sale. A commission or per-booking model is something we're actively considering for the future, once there's a reliable way to track bookings rather than just clicks.
How much does it cost?
USD 95, one-off, for 12 months of featured placement. There is no subscription and it does not renew automatically.
What exactly do I get for the price?
Your trip sorts first - ahead of every non-featured trip - on its country page and its sub-region page, and it carries a visible "Featured" badge on its trip card and its trip detail page. Placement runs for 12 months from the date it's applied.
How soon does it go live after I pay?
There's no automatic checkout on this site yet, so a real person applies your listing by hand after payment is confirmed - typically within a day or two. If it's been longer than that, send a message through the feedback page and it'll get attention.
Does it renew automatically?
No. There's no subscription billing behind this yet, so placement simply ends after 12 months unless you renew. We don't currently send a reminder before it lapses, so if you want to keep it, plan to reach out again before the year is up.
Can I pay by invoice instead of by card?
Yes. Tell us through the feedback page that you'd like an invoice instead of paying by card - either works.
