Mexico's pelagic trips span two coastlines. Off Huatulco on the Oaxacan coast, the Middle American Trench brings deep Pacific water within a few miles of shore, making it the world's most reliable access point for the Critically Endangered Townsend's Shearwater outside its remote Socorro Island breeding colony, alongside common Galapagos and Wedge-tailed Shearwaters and a five-booby possibility spanning Nazca, Blue-footed, Brown, Masked, and Red-footed. At the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, half-day trips from Los Cabos and La Paz reach the Gordo Banks seamounts and the Gulf of California — the core range of the Near Threatened Craveri's Murrelet — alongside Black and Least Storm-Petrels, Pink-footed and Black-vented Shearwaters, and Red-billed Tropicbird.
