About This Trip

Deep Sea Headquarters operates offshore pelagic birding trips from Port Aransas aboard the Gulf Eagle, a 72-foot vessel captained by Jon McIntyre, a seasoned offshore birder with over two decades of Gulf of Mexico pelagic experience. The 12-hour trips push 5–6 hours beyond the continental shelf into deep Gulf waters where Cory's and Audubon's Shearwaters, Band-rumped Storm-Petrel, Masked and Brown Boobies, Bridled Terns, and Pomarine Jaegers are regularly encountered. The Gulf of Mexico's unique warm blue-water environment occasionally produces rarer finds including Black-capped Petrel, White-tailed Tropicbird, and Yellow-nosed Albatross.
