Zest for Birds Hout Bay Pelagic

Zest for Birds has operated pelagic birding trips from Hout Bay Harbour since 2000, heading 40 nautical miles offshore to the Continental Shelf canyon where seabirds concentrate around fishing trawlers. Trips are led by expert ornithologists including Trevor Hardaker and John Graham, with a strict 5:1 passenger-to-guide ratio to ensure quality sightings. Expect multiple albatross species (Shy, Black-browed, Indian Yellow-nosed, Atlantic Yellow-nosed, and occasional Wandering), White-chinned and Great-winged Petrels, Pintado Petrel, prions, shearwaters, and storm-petrels in the productive Benguela upwelling waters.
